2nd Otley Backup Site

Just a quick note to remind you that there will be two Cub meetings during the summer holidays, Thursday 12th August and Thursday 26th August. We will be meeting at 6:30pm and finishing at 8:15pm. The meetings will be held outdoors to make the most of the summer evenings, weather permitting.

If you are unable to join us for either meeting, have an enjoyable summer holiday and we well see you at the first Cub meeting of the new term on Thursday 2nd September.

Fundraising hits the £90,000 mark!

Our leaders and supporters have continued to work away at our fund raising effort and have now reached a total of £90,000! The highlights over the last 3-4 months have included the following:

Otley Carnival Committee has donated £1,000. Our Scout Group and the Chevin Community Centre project was a beneficiary for this year's Carnival effort and we gratefully received a donation from the Carnival Committee earlier this month following the success of this year's Otley Carnival event.

Cub meetings

During the summer holidays, there will be two meetings held on Thursday 12th August and Thursday 26th August, meeting at 6:30pm and finishing at 8:15pm, These meetings will be outdoors, weather permitting, to make the most of the summer weather before the dark evenings return in late September.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Otley Carnival fundraising, whether it was selling programmes, baking cakes or buying raffle tickets. We were invited to the Carnival AGM tonight to pick up a lovely cheque for £1,000, which is certainly a boost to our fundraising efforts.

Meeting Wed 21st July 2010

We're finishing up at Surprise View, so we're hoping for a stunner of an evening with no torrential downpours! Drop-off at the hut, pick-up at Surprise View at 9.15pm. If you don't know it, it's the car park opposite the Royalty pub (not that you'll find any of the leaders up there after the meeting finishes, oh no, not us).

Steve's been working hard to coordinate the carnival float for Saturday. Please do your best to bring anything down to the hut tonight if you can help - it'll be available to collect from the float at the end of the parade.

As a reminder, we're meeting at the Scout hut at 9am on Saturday morning to start dressing the float, which will be on the cattle market as usual.

Here are details of a number of events for the Cubs over the forthcoming weeks.

Tomorrow night's meeting

We will be running the Athletes badge at tomorrow night's Cub meeting. Cubs will need to wear uniform but also bring clothing and trainers suitable for running.

Otley Carnival

Our Scout Group has entered a float into the Carnival this Saturday. Our theme is Christmas – snow, reindeer, elves and Santa will all be present! We'd like Cubs to dress up as either Elves or Reindeer and incorporate their Cub uniforms (neckers as a minimum).
